Course, distance and stations

Ten aravts race on a prepared 4.2195 km circuit around the lake. Each of the ten riders completes one lap, carrying a bronze gerege through a total team distance of 42.195 km. Every aravt has its own 15 m station with start and finish lines, and every team covers an equal total distance.

Timing and the finish

Team time runs from the first rider’s start to the last rider’s finish. The final rider’s finish order determines the winner; total time measures and confirms that order. Each rider’s personal time is measured separately when crossing their own station’s start and finish lines.

Gerege handover

The arriving rider hands the bronze gerege directly to the next rider inside their team’s 15 m station. The next rider continues after receiving it. A dropped gerege must be recovered from where it fell. A handover outside the station is invalid and must be repeated inside the zone.

Horse changes and technical decisions

Two special laps require horse changes: one male rider changes to two led horses and one female rider to one led horse. Riding, horse changes, and gerege handovers all count toward team time. Referees record failures to meet the horse-change requirement and review the performance under the rules. Detailed decisions on ties and technical infringements belong to the competition’s technical regulations.
